Shopify Integration Guide

Install Harper on your Shopify store in under 2 minutes

Overview

The Harper Shopify app provides seamless integration with your Shopify store. Once installed, it automatically tracks all orders, sends conversion data to Facebook, and requires zero coding.

What Gets Installed Automatically:

  • Tracking script on all pages
  • Order webhook for conversion tracking
  • Customer data syncing
  • Facebook CAPI integration

Prerequisites

  • Active Shopify store (any plan works)
  • Shopify store owner or staff account with app installation permissions
  • Harper account (sign up at harper.com)
  • Facebook Business Manager access (optional, for CAPI)

Installation Steps

Add Your Shopify Store in Harper

  1. Log in to your Harper dashboard
  2. Navigate to Stores → Add Store
  3. Click on "Shopify"
  4. Enter your Shopify store URL (e.g., mystore.myshopify.com)
  5. Click "Connect Shopify"

💡 Tip: Make sure you enter your full Shopify URL including .myshopify.com

Install the App in Shopify

You'll be automatically redirected to Shopify. If not, click the "Install on Shopify" button.

  1. Review the permissions requested by Harper
  2. Click "Install app"
  3. Wait for the installation to complete (takes 10-20 seconds)
  4. You'll be redirected back to Harper

Permissions Explained:

  • Read orders: To track conversions and revenue
  • Read customers: To match customers to ad clicks
  • Read products: To show product details in reports
  • Write script tags: To add tracking code automatically

Configure Settings

Once redirected back to Harper, configure your tracking preferences:

Recommended Settings:

  • Track all orders: ON (tracks every purchase)
  • Enable Facebook CAPI: ON (for better attribution)
  • Attribution window: 7 days (industry standard)
  • Track test orders: OFF (avoid false data)

Verify Installation

Let's make sure everything is working correctly:

Quick Test:

  1. In Harper dashboard, go to Stores → Your Store Name
  2. Check the status indicator - should show ● Connected
  3. Click "Test Installation"
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to place a test order
  5. Check if the test conversion appears in your dashboard

✅ Success: If you see the test order in Harper within 30 seconds, everything is working!

Advanced Configuration

Multi-Currency Tracking

If your store uses multiple currencies, enable multi-currency tracking:

  1. Go to Store Settings → Advanced
  2. Enable "Multi-currency tracking"
  3. Select your base currency for reporting
  4. All conversions will be converted to your base currency automatically

Custom Checkout

Using Shopify Plus with custom checkout? Additional setup required:

Subscription Products

Track subscription products (Recharge, Bold, etc.):

  1. Enable "Track subscriptions" in settings
  2. Harper will track both initial orders and renewals
  3. View subscription metrics in the Subscriptions report

What Happens Next?

Now that Harper is installed on your Shopify store:

  • Every order is automatically tracked and attributed to the correct ad
  • Conversion data is sent to Facebook via CAPI in real-time
  • You can view detailed attribution reports in your dashboard
  • Facebook Ads Manager will show more accurate conversion data
